Maureen Wern
President of Wern & Associates, Maureen has worked in long term care for over 40 years. While she retired on July 1, 2021, Wern & Associates staff continue to consult with clients in nursing facilities on MDS accuracy, life safety compliance and general long term care issues.
Maureen served on the OHCA Board of Directors and as an Executive Committee Board Member for several years. She served as the Chair of the Education Committee and, most recently, was the Chair of the OHCA Convention Committee. Maureen was a frequent presenter on MDS and survey topics across Ohio and throughout the Midwest. She also served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Sub-Acute and Post-Acute Care from 1999-2007.
Prior to her consulting practice, Maureen held several positions in nursing facilities from Staff Nurse to Executive Director of a 150 bed SNF and 75 bed AL. She served on both the DAVE task force and STRIVE committee at CMS to assess MDS accuracy, and was a Master Instructor for NASPAC MDS Nurse certification, presenting certification courses nationally in this capacity.
Maureen's career has been marked with leadership, clinical insight, and all-around good nature as she navigated the challenges of post acute and long term care. And let’s not forget Maureen’s years of dedication and enthusiasm for the OHCA Annual Convention.
