OHCA Collaborations in Care
The Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA) works closely with a variety of Ohio state administrative agencies to advance its mission of enhancing quality of care throughout the long-term care continuum. These collaborations support resident safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in care delivery. Below are highlights of OHCA’s recent partnerships with key state agencies.
Ohio Attorney General
Caring for residents and ensuring their safety and well-being at all times are top priorities and core responsibilities of every Ohio Health Care Association member.
Combating elder abuse and promoting patient quality of care has also been at the heart of OHCA's mission since its founding.
OHCA provides education to ensure all statewide members have a clear understanding of the federal state regulations related to elder abuse. Resources from our partners and collaboration with the Ohio Attorney General's Office are accessible here.
Ohio Department of Aging
The Ohio Health Care Association has partnered with the Ohio Department of Aging on the Nursing Home Quality of Care Task Force, working collaboratively to identify challenges and develop recommendations aimed at improving care outcomes across Ohio’s long-term care facilities.
In addition, families and residents can explore long-term care options that meet their individual needs by using the Quality Navigator, a tool designed to provide accessible and transparent information to support informed care decisions.
Superior Health Quality Improvement Organization (QIO)
Superior Health's QIO program aligns directly with OHCA's commitment to continuous, proactive quality improvement across Ohio's nursing homes. As Superior Health provides free, data-driven support, including head to toe facility assessments, individualized action plans, focused quality services, and expertise in areas such as falls, rehospitalizations, behavioral health, care transitions and workforce challenges, OHCA reinforces this work through extensive education programs that promote best practices in clinical care and quality systems. Together, Superior Health's hands-on advisory model and OHCA's statewide advocacy for legislation that strengthens quality of care create a coordinated, mutually supportive framework that helps facilities advance resident outcomes and sustain long-term improvement.

Preparing Future Administrators with BELTSS
The Ohio Health Care Assocation (OHCA) is proud to partner with the Ohio Board of Executives of Long-Term Services and Supports (BELTSS) to develop and deliver the Core of Knowledge 100-hour course, a critical step in preparing future Nursing Home Administrators (NHAs). This collaboration brings together regulatory leadership and industry expertise to ensure the course is both compliant and practical. Together, OHCA and BELTSS have built a program that not only meets the academic requirements for licesnure, but also reflects the real world skills administrators need to lead effectively and deliver high-quality care.
OHCA plays a key role in identifying and engaging qualified instructors, experienced professionals who bring subject matter expertise and frontline perspective into the classroom. This ensures program participants in the Administrator Residency (AR) program receive relevant instruction that prepares them for the state licensure examination and beyond. Through this partnership, OHCA and BELTSS are strengthening the pipeline of well-prepared administrators- leaders who are equipped to navigate today's challenges while providing exceptional care to those they serve.
