Water Borne Pathogens: Risk Assessment and Water Management Plan Srategies

Level: Intermediate

There is a renewed focus on the prevention of building-associated Legionnaires' disease stemming from recent outbreaks and new regulations and standards, including ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 188 and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Voluntary compliance with ANSI/ASHRAE 188 and mandatory compliance with CMS raise the bar for responsibility in patient safety. Healthcare facilities must complete a risk assessment and develop and implement a water management plan, while understanding how environmental testing for Legionella is used to assess risk and validate water safety plans. This session will cover the basics on Legionella microbiology, risk assessments water management plans, and treatment options. Meeting CMS requires a team approach, don’t miss this session.
