The Positive Impact of the Enabling Gardens

Level: Intermediate

Enabling Gardens provide horticultural experiences for people of all ages and abilities. The garden features an accessible path and plants that offer sensory stimulation such as colors, textures and fragrances. Join Debbie McKee as she shares the therapeutic benefits of an inter-generational Community Enabling Garden Program. This session will also discuss designs for adaptive gardening as well as inter-generational relationships in a garden setting. In addition, CMS approved policies and procedures for maintaining and harvesting gardens on facility grounds and ideas for recruiting volunteers from the local community that will guarantee success will be discussed.
