ENGAGE for Quality, Person-Centered Care and Memory Care Using Residents’ Own Life Stories

Level: Intermediate

This session will review the new regulations and explore how reminiscence and the life story complement person-centered care and dementia care (behavioral health) regulations. The "Story" is an underutilized field in the EHR, but data must be rich, accurate, and a “quick read” to maximize staff use. Attendees will experience a person’s story interactively and review some of the barriers that staff and communities face. We will also experience using engagement tools with residents who have Alzheimer's Disease and explore ways that volunteers, family, or staff can more easily engage.
