Loudonville Laundry Assistant Named November 2017 Long-Term Care “Hero”

The state’s largest organization representing long-term care facilities has honored a Loudonville, Ohio laundry assistant as its November 2017 “Hero of Long-Term Care.”

Marilyn Eagle, laundry assistant at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, has been selected by the Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA) as its Hero of Long-Term Care for November 2017. OHCA honors one long-term care employee each month for their service to long-term caregivers, residents and the community.

Eagle will be featured on the OHCA website ( during the month of November, and will be recognized at the Association’s 2018 Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio.

Linda Snowbarger, licensed nursing home administrator and owner of Colonial Manor, says that Eagle is passionate about serving the facility’s residents and the community.

"Marilyn has worked for Colonial Manor for 26 years,’” says Snowbarger. “Her job and residents are very important to her, and it shows in the results,” she added.

According to the staff at Colonial Manor, Eagle has a knack for getting along with others – her co-workers and staff in other departments, and especially the residents and their families. She provides “little extras” for the residents to make them feel at home. A kind familiar face with a smile and willingness to go out of her way is a trait the residents admire.

“We are grateful for the years Marilyn has spent at Colonial,” said Andrea Schoonover, Eagle’s supervisor. “We hope she works for many more; she’s a big part of this facility and her years of experience have been of great service.”

In addition to her service at Colonial Manor, Eagle is active in her church and assists in the raising of 2 step-grandchildren.

“For her great attitude, longevity and helpfulness, the great relationships built with the residents, and the attention to detail she gives her job, we have nominated Marilyn for this honor,” says Schoonover. “She is truly our Hero of Long Term Care!”
