Loudonville Maintenance Worker Named June 2016 Long-Term Care “Hero”

The state’s largest organization representing long-term care facilities has honored a Loudonville, Ohio maintenance and transportation worker as its June 2016 “Hero of Long-Term Care.”

Ron Achamire, Maintenance and Transportation Assistant at Jac-Lin Manor, Loudonville, Ohio has been selected by the Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA) as its Hero of Long-Term Care for June 2016. OHCA honors one long-term care employee each month for their service to long-term caregivers, residents and the community.
Achamire will be featured on the OHCA website during the month of June, and will be recognized at the Association’s 2017 Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio.

Bert MacQueen, Licensed Administrator (LNHA) at Jac-Lin Manor, says that Achamire is passionate about serving the facility’s residents and the community.

"Ron always goes above and beyond for the residents and shows concern for their safety,” MacQueen said. “Everyone can depend on Ron for Help."

Achamire has been with Jac-Lin Manor for 4 years. Although he had no experience with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population earlier, he has found it “his cup of tea

“The residents know him and greet him by name, just as he greets them,” said Becky Morehouse, R.N., Director of Nursing at Jac-Lin. They all know how much he likes them and they like him in return; he’s built a wonderful relationship with them, and also with the staff.”

Always willing to help, Achamire fixes residents’ personal items, wheelchairs, backpacks, and helps them find lost items. He is very attentive and observant, and spends time with the residents, which they enjoy.

In addition to his duties at Jac-Lin Manor, Achamire is an elder at his church, and volunteers with the Lions Club, at school concession stands and church activities, and has participated in mission trips to help others in need.

“”You can tell how much he enjoys his job by his attitude,” said Sue Long, Marketing Director at Jac-Lin. “His wife said she didn’t know if he would like the job when he took it. He certainly made the right decision to try it, because we couldn’t ask for a more compassionate, caring individual with a willingness to work. The more Ron helps others, the happier he is!”
