Schroer Elected
2008-2009 OHCA Chairman
Gerald F. Schroer, Jr., President of Absolute Health Services, Inc., was
elected 2008-2009 OHCA President by the organization’s Board of Directors
during the Convention. Schroer is a licensed Ohio nursing home administrator,
and has spent his entire long-term care career in the family business. He has
worked in nursing facilities from front line staff and maintenance to
administrator, and has a hands-on familiarity with every aspect of our
operations. As an active and outspoken member of the long-term care community,
Schroer has been involved with OHCA activities for many years, serving on a
variety of committees and within the OHCA-Political Action Committee. Schroer
was elected to the Executive Committee by the Board of Directors as an at-large
member, and has also served as Secretary and Vice President of the Association
prior to his election as President.
During his
inaugural speech to the members of the Association, Schroer said that he would
pursue reasonable increases in Medicaid funding for skilled nursing facility
care in Ohio, and promote appropriate placement to ensure that Ohioans receive
the proper amount of care in the most suitable environment. He also demanded
meaningful regulatory reform to lift the burdens of paperwork and needless
directives from caregivers already overextended through a severe manpower
shortage.
The Schroer Group operates a number of long-term
care facilities, but also operates a variety of related businesses through
Schroer Ancillary Services, of which Gerald Schroer, Jr. also serves as
President: Absolute Health Services; Absolute Pharmacy; Absolute Rehabilitation
and Consulting; Absolute Home Health, and Absolute Temp Staffing.
