Quality Commission Meets
The OHCA Quality Commission, Chaired by Shane Craycraft, Garden Manor, held its
second meeting this morning. The group, which has more than 80 members, divided
into six subcommittees (Quality Incentives; Quality Measures; ODA
Resident/Family Satisfaction Surveys; Advancing Excellence; AHCA Quality
Initiatives; 5-Star/Nursing Home Compare) to explore the various aspects of
each component. The results of the groups’ discussions will be developed into
educational materials for Association members. The subcommittees were asked to
identify the component and how it impacts residents, staff, families, community,
and government/payers. The groups were also asked to write a brief paragraph
explaining the component, and to identify tools that providers can use, as well
as how the quality component relates to and interacts with other components.
Going forward, the Commission will look at education and the relationship of
the quality components with reimbursement, regulations and other aspects of the
long term care mission.
