ODH Long
Term Care Severe Adverse Weather Event Monitoring
While long term care providers have many systems in place to deal with
adversity during emergency situations, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH)
maintains a Long Term Care Severe Weather Event Hotline for nursing facility
and residential care facility to directly contact ODH in the event that they
are impacted by Hurricane Sandy or other weather events. Providers are strongly
encouraged to contact the hotline if the facility is adversely impacted by the
severe weather (e.g., sustained power outage, sustained generator use, landline
phone disruption, building damage, evacuation, etc.). Callers should leave a
facility contact person’s name and call-back number (mobile phone where
necessary) so ODH staff can follow up. ODH is continuing to monitor a few
facilities with ongoing utility outages resulting from recent wind storms,
particularly in NE Ohio. If you are aware of any SNF, RCFs or ICFs/IID with
ongoing power outage, please contact ODH to make sure they are added to the
monitoring list. ODH Long Term Care Severe Weather Event Hotline: 866-688-3581.
