OHCA to Provide Clarification of Drug Diversion Reporting
This week, OHCA members have reported receiving letters from the Attorney General’s Office concerning reporting drug diversion – theft of drugs prescribed for patients in skilled nursing facilities and other care centers. Although there is no evidence of an uptick in these crimes, the Attorney General apparently believes diversion in SNFs may increase because of law enforcement efforts to shut down other sources of illicit narcotics. We are concerned that the letters sent to our members may not state the reporting requirements fully and correctly, so we have asked legal counsel to provide clarification that we subsequently will distribute to members.
