How To Be a Nurse Assistant, 4th Edition (Student Textbook)

The new 4th edition adds subacute care and is updated throughout in applicable regulations, nurse assistant skills, and general health care information. Notable new content includes new chapters on the nurse assistant’s role with surgical patients and for childbirth, neonatal care, and working with children and adolescents, as well as expanded nurse assistant careers in subacute care settings. Each chapter begins with an opening that explains why the material is necessary for CNAs, including applications of OBRA 87. Chapter introductions challenge students to put themselves in the place of the residents, emphasizing that a CNA must think of the residents first. Short case studies and critical thinking exercises are found throughout the book. Nursing skills are described step by step with accompanying illustrations for ease of learning. Each chapter ends with a summary of the main points, a case study that shows how the chapter material can be used in daily care, and a 10-question multiple choice quiz.
