Just in Case: Emergency Readiness for Older Adults and Caregivers

This community education video is a call to action, reminding us that the unexpected can happen at all levels of intensity. Emergency readiness is a personal responsibility, but one that can be managed comfortably with a little advanced planning. It empowers older adults and caregivers to take some basic, but potentially life-saving, steps to prepare for an emergency. The program presents a three-step approach:

• Understand the emergency risks that could affect your community
• Have your emergency supplies ready, including your “grab and go” bag
• Make a personal plan covering your needs or the needs of your loved ones.

The community education guide includes background information, practical tips for addressing senior and caregiver audiences, and a variety of audience handouts.
