Clock Test Reveals Functional Age

Price: $46.00

For Consumers

Ask a person to draw a clock and that will do what? What could be the relationship between copying a picture of clock and how a resident's activity plan should be created? How could drawing a clock impact the way a resident's care plan is written in terms of issues such as behavioral challenges? There is a very simple, yet very telling, test now available called a Reality Comprehension Clock Test, (RCCT, 1999. Brock, et al) This researched, validated test is simple to administer but when analyzed provides a wealth of information about the resident's abilities. The results will reveal at what functional age the resident is functioning. This will afford the staff with information that can be utilized in each interaction with the resident. Knowing that the resident has the mental functioning ability of a six (6) year old will drastically change the mind set of the caregivers. The value in knowing the functional age can best be seen in creation of dementia specific activity plans for cognitively impaired residents. These videos look at the balancing of the entertainment and the therapeutic activities quotient based on the needs of the residents in each facility.
