OHCA's Heroes of Long Term Care program honors individual long-term care employees for their service to residents, the facility, and to their community. Heroes are nominated from long-term care facilities throughout Ohio.

Franklin Office Manager Named September 2012 Long-Term Care “Hero”

The state’s largest organization representing long-term care facilities has honored a Franklin, Ohio woman as its October 2012 “Hero of Long-Term Care.”

Angel Stoner, Office Manager at Franklin Ridge Healthcare Center, Franklin, was selected by the Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA) as its Hero of Long-Term Care for the month of October, 2012.  The organization chooses one long-term care employee each month to honor for their service to long-term caregivers, residents and the community.

Stoner will be honored at the Association’s 2013 Annual Convention in Columbus, and will be featured on the OHCA website (www.ohca.org) during the month of September.

Anita Buddo RN, LNHA, Administrator at Franklin Ridge, says that Stoner is passionate about serving the facility’s residents and the community.

“Angel is our ‘go-to’ person for issues with residents, families and staff,” says Buddo.  “She thinks of the residents as her family, and goes out of her way to ensure that all of their needs are met.”

Stoner has been a fixture at Franklin Ridge since 1981, and has an intimate understanding of the facility and the Franklin community.  She started with the facility as a receptionist, and over the years has added responsibilities moving eventually to the Business Office Manager position.

“Angel does all of the resident shopping, manages payroll, human resources, resident sign-ins and many other tasks too numerous to mention,” said Shelley Bricker, RN, Director of Nursing at the facility.  “She always stays positive . . .  and provides both physical and emotional support to all departments.”

“Angel is a hard worker and deserves recognition for all that she does,” said Buddo.  “She is truly one of our heroes of long-term care!”

Franklin Ridge Healthcare offers skilled nursing and rehabilitation services in its 99-resident facility. Franklin Ridge also provides therapy and specialty medical services. The facility is located at 421 Mission Lane, Franklin, OH 45005, 937-746-3943. Additional information is available online at www.franklinridgehc.com/.

The Ohio Health Care Association is a non-profit association of more than 700 skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and providers serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, representing over 50,000 individuals. Many OHCA members also provide a variety of home and community-based services.  OHCA is the largest long-term care association in the state, and the only chartered Ohio affiliate of the American Health Care Association, representing more than 12,000 long-term care facilities nationwide.
